The PERFECT way to ask for a client testimonial...
Written by Adam Smith on May 16th 2022
👉When it comes to humans, we put people into those three different categories: Know, Like, and Trust. 😄

It’s safe to say that you probably knew a lot of your teachers when you were growing up.

You probably even liked a few of them and looked forward to a lecture from them.

For those teachers you trusted though...

...you put more effort into their assignments and then even asked them for actual help in life. 🤓

We tolerate the people we “know”, listen to those we like, and do business with those we trust. 💪

That’s what business is all about...

It was the same way when I was doing summer sales.

😒A lot of people would get to know me

😐A few got to listen to me

🤑But those who trusted me, gave me their business.

You need your prospects TRUST before they consider giving you their hard earned money. 🔥

Here is how to get someone to trust you.

✅Build rapport (which is close relationship you have with someone you feel comfortable expressing ideas to)

I like to do this by talking about things we have in common.

What issues or problems can we share in together?

What can I do to make them laugh, feel good or create value for them?

Rapport might be the most important factor. 👊

✅Show social proof

There are a lot of cheats in the world and too many of them are getting away with short changing people.

Everyone without social proof (that your stuff actually works)... 🤩

...is going to disappear without anybody wondering where they went.

Have social proof, get results for people and flaunt it.

Almost be obnoxious about how many people are getting results with your programs.

Tip: Ask your current clients for a testimonial. 👍

Say this,

"Hey, (name) (include something personal)

I've got a really small but important favor to ask. I'm working on an upcoming project and I need some testimonials.

I wanted to ask you personally because you've been one of my best clients.

Would you shoot a short 30 sec video testimonial?

It doesn't have to be perfect, just shot right on your phone would be great!

Would you do this for me?

Just make sure to include the following:

- A little bit about your backstory

- What issue were you dealing with before you met me

- Why did you decide to work with me

- What result were you looking to get or did get

- What transformation are you seeing or did you see as a result or working with me?

Thank you so much. Looking forward to seeing it soon!"

If you need a written testimonial, I would advise that you write the testimonial yourself...

...and then ask them if it's accurate and get their permission.

That way you can say exactly what you need it to say. Russell Brunson actually wrote all the testimonials for his funnel hacks webinar (fun fact) and then just got their permission to use it. 🤯

You can totally do that too.

✅Show them you actually understand

The way I do this is by telling them their problems.

Seems a little backwards huh? 🧐

When I've done my market research, I know the pain points of my current and future clients.

☝️I can tell what keep them awake at night, what they dread, fear and what pushes them to action.

Once I tell them their pain, they start to associate the SOLUTION with ME! 😏

It doesn't matter what I have really as long as I can articulate the problem, they will automatically assume I have the answer. 😇

Hope that serves you.
